Biotope Architecture & Interiors

I first collaborated with Rose Douramanis, lead architect at Biotope Architecture and Interiors, via a collaboration with stellar Melbourne creative agency The Company You Keep (TCYK). They brought me in to craft the copy for Biotope’s website, which included writing a series of short, richly descriptive project descriptions about different renovations and properties Rosa had worked on.

Rosa’s work – primarily done in Tasmania where she’s based – is heavily influenced by the materials she chooses to work with and each project is heavily inspired by the landscape it sits within. Meeting with Rosa to talk about her architectural practice gave me the language and framing through which to talk about her incredibly beautiful designs.

About a year after the initial engagement, Rosa reached out again to add two more projects to the website, which I jumped at the chance to do. Writing about space and its effects on how we live is an interest area of mine, having also written website copy for DETAIL 3, another Melbourne-based architectural practice.

Similarly, late in 2023, Rosa reached out again to get my support on crafting two more project descriptions. Our collaboration wouldn’t be considered a big one in a business sense, most definitely fills my creative cup whenever it pops up. Fostering long term creative relationships is a goal of mine moving into 2024 and beyond. Why? The longer I write for a brand, the deeper my knowledge becomes, and the more I’m able to contribute.
